About us
Nestled at the foot of Mt Tallabung on Wiradjuri country, “Cooyong Homestead” is home to Adrian and Kylie Matthews, and their four children. Having purchased the property in 2012, the family have been restoring it to life since.
With a focus on Angus beef cattle, the farm is managed holistically, using practices that will continually improve the health of the soils, plants, and animals. Having introduced biodynamics and using little or no chemicals, the Matthews manage the grazing to focus on resting the paddocks, encourage biodiversity and are currently implementing a revegetation program throughout the property.
Dominated by Box Gum woodlands and with an abundance of wildlife in the area, including wallabies, eastern grey kangaroos, echidnas, Wedge tailed eagles and many more, the family saw an opportunity to share their slice of life with others. Transforming two original grain silos into custom-designed boutique accommodation was an idea the couple had been toying with since 2007, and finally in 2022 they decided to bring their dream to fruition, and got to work!
Top Paddock Silo Stay opened in March, 2024 as a unique way to experience Forbes and its surrounding areas. The Matthews family are passionate about supporting small and local business, guests will find many little touches throughout their stay that reflect this ideal.

How we started
Transforming the silos into a raw and authentic luxury accommodation was an idea Adrian and Kylie had been considering since 2007. After the purchase of their farm, the idea evolved over several years and in 2020, amongst working off farm and raising their four children, the couple got to work to bring their dream to life.
With plenty of creative design and problem solving to combat round walls, corrugations and uneven surfaces, the project was completed in March 2024.
The property is now humming with groups searching for a restorative country escape, enjoying the peace, views and serenity that only the bush can provide. Being passionate about regenerative farming systems, the couple delight in sharing their love of the land with others.
Who are we?
The property is 100% family owned and operated, with the four children pitching in where necessary in the farming operations as well as helping out with the silo enterprise.
Adrian and Kylie are excited to create an unforgettable experience for their guests that helps to provide a sustainable future for their family farm for years to come.
